Ushguli, Svaneti, Georgia

This is what those cold mornings are for, -10 C or colder: frost on the insides of the windows after enough people have spent a night humidifying the air with their breath

dear Anthony
I heard about your Svaneti blog from a friend who sings Georgian folk music in Toronto. Your wonderfully-crafted photos of snow, ice & everyday life in Ushguli bring back memories of my own visits to Upper Svaneti, most recently in Jan-Feb 2006. Perhaps we shall meet there some day. Keep up the good work!
best wishes,

Great to meet you online & hear of your Svaneti connection! Thanks for the compliments too. I marry a Georgian gal in May, & we plan to visit Canada & the UK after that for some months, then back up to Svaneti to live...

Wow... That looks cold indeed, especially for this time of year. Even my folks' place in Missouri (in the USA Midwest) is thawed out now (they are having tornadoes rather than ice storms).

I now live in a much warmer climate of Southern California and it just never gets cold enough for the windows to ice up like that here. I missed how beautiful it can be. Thanks for more great photos!

Cheers,
Smorg :o)
