Ushguli, Svaneti, June 2007
The bottom picture shows all of Ushguli as I began my descent. The rest are from near, around and inside the top church, also called Lamaia. (Incidentally, on my trip to Ushguli this week, a French tourist there told me that there is a church in the Italian Alps which is at c. 2700 m of altitude. This, if true, would mean that Ushguli's highest church, Lamaia, is NOT the highest church in Europe.)

the W()RD: Back again, again
Just returned from my record-breaking 5th trip in a year to the Magic Mountains of Svaneti. Used to be I'd make 3 visits a year on average; 2007 looks to have at least 7, the way things are going. 4 more rolls of film to process and scan on top of July's 7; but before I can even post those, I have more from June to post, ready to go. Stay tuned, viewers - I'll show you the OTHER place where Peter Jackson could have filmed his trilogy.

the W()RD: Home and Away
I'm off to the mountains for a few days, unsure If I'll be bloggable from there. Back towards the end of this week. This is definitely my record-breaking year for trips to Svaneti... Just as well that I love the place! More news and photos to follow after I return.
