These are from the walk up to Tamar's Summer Tower high above Ushguli, Europe's highest watchtower. Light rain, thunder and lightning made it a challenge just to get up there, let alone to take pictures. But the fall colours made me try.
ah, this are lovely! i thought of the (in)famous Yorkshire photos and the wild high country so popularized by James Herriot's books - am I off the mark?
Tony which direction is Tamar's tower from Ushguli? I have Peter Nasmyth book of walks so could follow from there on the map of Ushguli (which itself is 2300m so presumably the tower higher). Great pics I really envy you . Are the shots from now ? No snow yet doesn't seem likely. Best, keep on posting. Nimrod
The tower is south from Ushguli. There are various reports of Ushguli's height (depending, I suppose, on where you take your measurement from: the centre of the village, the top, or this tower...). Glad you like the pics, which were from about October 9.
Hi Tony! I am finally online and found your blog! I would still love to get pictures from our time in the village...do you have an online album where I can save them from? Hope all is well! Karen Brown

ReplyDeleteIt's at least as wild, and much higher (c. 2300m above sea level). Glad you like the pics!
